Internet sales

The need for regulation

Currently, internet sales of tobacco products are largely unregulated. We think that’s a problem:

Many companies that sell cigarettes online don’t ensure that only adults can enter and buy from their websites.
They don’t check that their customers pay all customs duties, excise and other taxes.
Some of them actually sell counterfeit products – in other words, fakes.

As e-commerce in general becomes more and more important, so does the need for comprehensive regulation in this area.

This would ensure that cigarettes are marketed, sold and delivered only to adults, that internet sales comply with all local laws and that all customs duties, excise and other taxes get paid.

Provided those issues are addressed, we believe that the internet can be an effective and responsible way of marketing and selling our products to adult consumers.
