We are driven to create the best possible return for shareholders, while proactively engaging regulators and the public health community to address the complex issues surrounding tobacco use.

Our business

Philip Morris International is the leading international tobacco company.

We have an unequaled product portfolio, led by the world's number one brand, Marlboro. And we continue to develop innovative products that appeal to the evolving preferences of adult consumers.

We are investing heavily in research and development and are working relentlessly to develop next-generation products that may reduce the risk of tobacco-related disease.

Smoking and health

We recognize and acknowledge that we manufacture a product that is addictive and causes serious disease. That is why we openly communicate about the health risks of smoking and we advocate for comprehensive regulation of tobacco products wherever we do business.

Social responsibility

For us, responsibility begins with the product. That is why we are committed to communicating about the health risks of smoking in an open and transparent way and supporting the regulation of tobacco wherever our products are sold.

We support initiatives in local communities where our employees live and work as well as from where we source our tobacco, with the objective of addressing key societal issues. We focus our giving mainly in the fields of human and social needs, agriculture and the environment, hunger relief and domestic violence. In 2008, our charitable contributions totaled approximately $20 million.
