Philip Morris International’s management team has extensive market, function and management experience, providing the collective depth and business knowledge to successfully manage our business and world-class portfolio of brands and products.

Louis C. Camilleri:  Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Louis C. Camilleri became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Philip Morris International on 28 March 2008, following the spin-off of Philip Morris International from Altria Group, Inc.

Prior to this, he had been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Altria, since 2002. He had previously served as Altria’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since November 1996.

Louis joined Philip Morris International in 1978 as a Business Development Analyst with Philip Morris Europe, and held various line and staff positions focusing on the establishment and growth of the Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa (EEMA) Region of Philip Morris International. In 1982, he was appointed Director, Business Development & Planning, and in 1986, he assumed responsibility for all staff functions as Vice President, EEMA Region.

In 1990, Louis was appointed Vice President, Central & Eastern Europe, Philip Morris International, and led the significant expansion of Philip Morris International’s business in that geographic area. In 1993, Louis transferred to Philip Morris International’s European Union Region, where he served as Senior Vice President, with responsibility for all staff functions.

Louis was named the Company’s Vice President, Corporate Business Strategy, in February 1995 and in August 1995, he became Senior Vice President, Corporate Planning. In December 1995, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Kraft Foods International.

Prior to joining Philip Morris International, Louis was a Business Analyst with W. R. Grace & Co., in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Louis received a degree in Economics and Business Administration from Lausanne University in 1976.

André Calantzopoulos:  Chief Operating Officer

André assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer of Philip Morris International on 28 March 2008, following the spin-off of Philip Morris International from Altria Group, Inc.

Prior to this, he had served as Philip Morris International’s President and Chief Executive Officer since 2002.

André joined the company in 1985 and worked extensively across Central Europe, including as Managing Director of Philip Morris Polska, before becoming President, Eastern Europe Region, in 1999.

André earned a degree in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and an MBA from INSEAD in France. Prior to joining Philip Morris International, André gained management experience in the automotive industry.

Doug Dean:  Senior Vice President, Research and Development

Before joining our company in July 2006, Doug was a partner and senior executive with PwC/IBM’s global life sciences and pharmaceuticals business, where he led the Global Quality and Value Driven Compliance practice. Working with global pharmaceutical companies, the practice provided services to introduce new analytical techniques for modelling, quantifying, and mitigating risks associated with pharmaceutical products.

Doug has over 25 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of healthcare products, specializing in reducing risk exposure and enhancing regulatory compliance and product quality by design. He formerly headed research and development at the Process Control and Automation Centre of Excellence in the Rockwell International group of companies.

Doug, who has published widely in industry journals, has a BASc in engineering physics and a PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of British Columbia.

Paolo Degola:  President, European Union

Paolo joined our company as a management trainee in Italy in 1985, after graduating in economics and business administration from the University of Parma.

By 1992 he had been appointed Vice President, Italy and between 1998 and 2002 Paolo's remit widened to include responsibility for our markets in Greece, Ireland, Portugal and the UK, as well as for marketing and sales across our European Union markets. In September 2002 Paolo moved to Tokyo to run our business in Japan.

In September 2005 Paolo was appointed President of our European Union region, with responsibility for managing our operations in the EU.

Besides the economics degree from Parma, Paolo also holds a master's degree in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

Georges Diserens:  Senior Vice President, Information Services and Chief Information Officer

Before joining Philip Morris International, Georges lectured at Lausanne University in operational research and statistics. A native of Switzerland, he joined Philip Morris Europe as a Financial Analyst in 1976.

Georges worked for a brief period at Philip Morris International’s New York headquarters in the early 1980’s. By 1992 he was responsible for operations in Switzerland, Scandinavia, Finland and Austria. His negotiation of the purchase of the Lithuanian tobacco industry also set the foundations for successful operations in the Baltic states.

In 1998, he became Senior Vice President in charge of finance, information systems, internal controls, business development, planning, fiscal and economic affairs in for the EU region.

Georges was appointed to his current position in 2001, where he leads Philip Morris International's Information Systems team in its support for the growing needs of the business.

Mark Friedman:  Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Mark joined Philip Morris International in 2000 as Regional Counsel, EU Region.

In 2002 Mark became Vice President and Associate General Counsel for our Western Europe Region and in 2005, Mark was appointed Vice President and Associate General Counsel, European Union. He took up his current position as Senior Vice President and General Counsel in June 2007.

Prior to joining Philip Morris International, Mark served as Assistant General Counsel, Worldwide Regulatory Affairs for Philip Morris Companies Inc., between 1996 and 2000.

Before joining Philip Morris Companies Inc., Mark worked on litigation issues in the New York and Hong Kong offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. A member of the New York Bar, Mark earned a law degree from Harvard Law School and received an undergraduate degree in public and international affairs from Princeton University.

G. Penn Holsenbeck:  Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Corporate Secretary

Penn became Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Philip Morris International on 28 March 2008, following the spin-off of Philip Morris International from Altria Group, Inc.

He previously served as Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Altria since 1995.

Penn is a member of the Pennsylvania, California and American Bar Associations and the ABA's Committee on Federal Regulation of Securities. Penn is also a member of the Council of Institutional Investors and is on the Board of Trustees of the Community Service Society of New York. He is a past Chairman of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries and a past Chairman of its Securities Law Committee.

Penn has a J. D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B. A. degree from Yale University.

Even Hurwitz:  Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs

Even joined Philip Morris International in 2001 as Vice President and Associate General Counsel.

In 2003 Even became Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Philip Morris International’s Latin America and Canada region and in 2005, was appointed Vice President, Regulatory & Fiscal Affairs in Philip Morris International’s Corporate Affairs department.

He was appointed to his current position in July 2006 and is responsible for our company’s regulatory, fiscal and communication strategies.

Prior to joining Philip Morris International, Even served as Associate General Counsel, Worldwide Regulatory Affairs, Philip Morris Companies Inc. between 1999 and 2001.

Before joining Philip Morris Companies Inc., Even was a partner at Washington, DC law firm Arnold & Porter, where he worked on regulatory and litigation issues for a variety of clients.

Jean-Claude Kunz:  President, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and PMI Duty Free

Jean-Claude joined the company in 1983 as a Business Development Analyst for the EEMA region, covering EFTA, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

By 1992 he had been appointed Area Director for Central Europe. The year after, he was promoted to Vice President, Central Europe, and in 1997 he became President of the EEMA region. In 1998 Jean-Claude was appointed President of the CEMA region (Central Europe, Middle East and Africa). In 2003, following the realignment of the regions within Philip Morris International, he was promoted to the position of President of Central Europe and Worldwide Duty Free (CE & WWDF).

In September 2005, Jean-Claude was appointed President, EEMA to manage our company’s operations throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Jean-Claude holds an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lausanne University.

Simon Langelier:  President, Next Generation Products and Adjacent Businesses

Simon joined Philip Morris International in 1980 as a management trainee after graduating with a degree in operational research from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom.

He has since held several management roles in sales, marketing and product management in countries ranging from Senegal and Cameroon to Greece, Belgium and Spain. In 1997 he became Managing Director of our Portuguese affiliate, Tabaqueira SA, before taking up the post of Managing Director of Philip Morris France in 2001. In 2002 he was appointed President, Eastern Europe; in 2003 President, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa; and in 2005 President, Eastern Asia.

In June 2007 Simon took up the position of President, Next Generation Products and Adjacent Businesses, and is now responsible for driving the development of potentially reduced exposure and reduced risk products.

Matteo Pellegrini:  President, Asia
Matteo Pellegrini, President, Western Asia  

Matteo joined Philip Morris International in 1991. He was Business Development Manager for the Italian market before becoming Marketing Director in 1994.

He was then appointed Managing Director in no fewer than four affiliates, moving between Portugal, Spain, France and finally returning to his native Italy in 2001. In 2003 he moved again, this time to Hong Kong to oversee our business in the Asia Pacific region and, in 2005, the Western Asia region.

In June 2007 Matteo’s area of responsibility was extended across the combined markets of Eastern and Western Asia, when he was appointed President, Asia.

A business administration graduate from Milan's Bocconi University, Matteo also holds a master's degree in marketing and marketing communication.

Daniele Regorda:  Senior Vice President, Human Resources

An economics and business administration graduate from Milan's Bocconi University, Daniele joined Philip Morris International in 1993 as a regional Manager of Compensation and Benefits.

By 1994 he was Director. During this time, he helped establish compensation and benefits processes in our newly acquired facilities in Central and Eastern Europe.

He has since built on his regional experience to hold various positions of increasing responsibility. From Director, Compensation and Benefits for Philip Morris International in 1996, Daniele went on in 2000 to oversee human resources in the Latin America region.

Returning to Europe in 2001, he became Vice President, Human Resources European Union region, Compensation & Benefits, International Assignments and Labour Relations.

Daniele joined our executive management team in March 2003 and now oversees human resources worldwide.

Salvador Rivera:  Senior Vice President, Operations

Salvador joined Philip Morris International in 1978 as a management trainee. Hired in New York, he was later assigned to Brazil. He progressed to become Director of Operations for Brazil and then, in 1988, Vice-President, Operations for the entire Latin America region.

1991 saw Salvador move to Philip Morris USA to occupy the post of General Manager of the Richmond Manufacturing facilities. He later took over responsibility for all US-based plant facilities as Vice-President, Manufacturing.

Originally from El Salvador, Salvador graduated from Purdue University in Indiana, USA and holds a master's degree in industrial engineering, a master's degree in engineering and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

Based in Lausanne, Switzerland since 2002, Salvador currently oversees Operations worldwide.

Hermann Waldemer:  Chief Financial Officer

Hermann assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer of Philip Morris International on 28 March 2008, following the spin-off of Philip Morris International from Altria Group, Inc.

He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company since 2005.

Hermann joined Philip Morris International in 1987, holding a number of positions, including Manager of Finance for the European Union Region and Managing Director of Philip Morris France, before being appointed Managing Director of Philip Morris Germany in December 2000. In April 2003, he became President, Western Europe where he managed Philip Morris International’s business in the Region from our Operations Center in Lausanne.

Prior to joining Philip Morris International, Hermann worked for Coopers & Lybrand GmbH.

A certified public accountant, Hermann has a degree in economics, finance and tax from the University of Regensburg in Germany.

Charles Wall:  Vice Chairman

Charles became Vice Chairman of Philip Morris International on 28 March 2008, following the spin-off of Philip Morris International from Altria Group, Inc.

Prior to this, Charles served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Altria since February 2000.

Charles joined Philip Morris Companies in 1990 as Vice President and Associate General Counsel. In 1994, he was appointed Senior Vice President, Litigation, and in May 1995, he assumed additional responsibilities as Deputy General Counsel.

Prior to joining Philip Morris Companies, Charles was an associate and later a partner in the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1970 to 1990.

Charles received a B.A. in history from Grinnell College in Iowa in 1967. He then attended the University of Missouri Law School, where he received a J. D. in 1970.

Charles is also a member of the Board of Directors of New York City Opera and the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla, California.

Miroslaw Zielinski:  President, Latin America and Canada
Miroslaw Zielinski, President, Latin America and Canada  

Miroslaw began his career with Philip Morris in his native Poland, joining as a merchandiser in 1991. He progressed through a number of senior sales and marketing positions at Philip Morris Polska before moving to Kiev on being appointed Managing Director of our Ukrainian affiliate in 1999.

In 2002 he became Managing Director, Worldwide Duty Free. Since April 2003, when he took up his current position, Miroslaw has been responsible for managing our operations in Latin America and Canada. He is now based in New York.

Miroslaw has an MA in economy and foreign trade from the Warsaw School of Statistics and Economics.
